Samoan Police Learn About It’s not OK

12 May 2010

A group of Samoan officials visited the It's not OK team in April to find out about the Campaign and how it has changed attitudes towards family violence in New Zealand.

The group also met with members of the Pacific Island Safety and Prevention Project in Auckland which works with Pacific families affected by family violence.

New Zealand Police work closely with Police in a number of Pacific Islands through the Pacific Prevention of Domestic Violence Programme, providing support, training and mentoring for Police staff in the Islands.
The Samoan delegation was brought over by NZ Police to see how Police and community organisations work together in New Zealand and decide if this way of working could be adapted to Samoa.

The Samoan visitors arranged to keep in touch with The Project.
