Youth bus provides roadshow for campaign messages
03 March 2010
A bright pink bus carrying campaign messages around Wellington streets was created by young people who used artwork to demonstrate what violence means to them. The Act Right project involved about 100 teenagers who took part in a workshop to increase awareness and understanding about family violence then used their art and graffiti skills to transform the Go Wellington bus.
Global Focus Aotearaoa coordinated the project which brought together Go Wellington buses, Wellington City Council, local colleges and youth networks, the Ministry of Youth Development and the It's not OK campaign team.
Campaign champions Tremain Mikaere and Vic Tamati were also involved, speaking at the workshop.
There is now interest in repeating the project in other parts of the country.
