Q:

I do not foresee an end to the cycle I'm in

Hi Vic, I'm a 33-year old male, dependant on drugs. I had a history of family violence, being that I was abused mentally and physically. I have been scarred in childhood and now as an adult I continued the abuse towards my ex partner and her son. I have disguised my life through drugs and do not foresee an end to the cycle I'm in. I am desperate for help and willing to be free from all abuse.

The best advice I can offer you is you need to deal with the main issue which is mental and physical abuse that you suffered as a child. Personally I don't know what it's like to be addicted to drugs. But I do know what it's like to suffer mental and physical abuse as a child and the hold that it can have on your life.

Phone your information line on 0800 456 450 for programmes that deal with the abuse that you have suffered but also there are some awesome drug and alcohol programmes around that can give you all the skills you need to be able to handle the stuff from the past and to cope with drug addiction and developing positive relationships.

You can break the cycle. Being desperate is a good thing. I only hope that you are desperate enough to break the cycle. Don't waste any more years being tormented by the history of abuse and disguising your life through drugs.
